Q: Can I use
one of your pictures for my RPG character's portrait?
A: Yes, as long as
the usage remains non-profit. I require that all images used on web
sites be properly credited to me with the following statement: ©
Copyright Maggie Wang. All rights reserved. Please read the Copyright
and Usage guidelines for full instructions.
Q: We are developing
a new game/RPG. Would you be interested in joining our team as a concept
artist/illustrator?
A: This depends on
the project. I have a full-time job at this time that keeps me up and
running from 9 am - 6:30 pm daily, as well as five web sites and a steady
stream of paid commission work to maintain. Email
me with details on your project and I'll let you know if I have
extra time in my schedule.
Q: What do you
use to create your art work?
A: My base medium
is graphite pencil for all of my work. Most of my black and white drawings
are graphite, although I also use charcoal for wildlife drawings and
pen and ink for illustration work. My colored images are scanned graphite
drawings colored with a combination of Adobe
Photoshop and Jasc Paint Shop Pro.
Q: I'm just starting
out as an artist. Can you give me any tips on drawing?
A: Practice, practice,
practice! Take as many art classes as you can at your school or college,
and study the work of artists whose work you admire. If you'd like some
portable instruction, check out my list of favorite
(and useful) art books.
Q: Can you draw
Jean-Claude, Anita Blake, Edward, or Richard from the Anita Blake books
next?
A: I'll certainly
think about it. It's hard to find time for side projects and fan art
these days, but I do plan on drawing all of the main characters from
Laurell K. Hamilton's books when I have some free time. In the meanwhile,
take a look at my Anita Blake gallery.
Q: Can you draw
my roleplaying character for me?
A: Yes and no. Yes,
I can do a custom character portrait for you, but no, it won't be free.
My black and white portraits are $25, while colored work is $50. I wish
I could help out every gamer out there who asks me for a drawing of
their character, but with an average of 3-4 requests per week, I'd never
get any of my other work done. For more information on commissioning
a portrait, please follow the Commissions
link.
Q: What is GemStone
III?
A: GemStone
III is a text-based multiplayer online roleplaying game from Simutronics.
I have several characters in the Prime version of the game--Myrael,
Shonin, Sydrian, and Synne. You can visit my character shrine, the Ta'Zen'Shihr
Pavilion, to see bios on my characters and other GemStone III residents.
Q: Can I use
one of your pictures for a tattoo design?
A: Sure, but only
if you promise to send me a picture of the final product!
